26: Roadtrip

We had a fun roadtrip...its funny how when you're in a car for such a long time you end up having all sorts of conversations with your husband that you just don't have time for in daily life...goofy or deep or crazy theories about human nature you realize you've been formulating for way too long in your head. Long conversations about when did Mtv totally derail? Or what is Axl Rose's back story?..lots of wikipediaing and googling...born Bruce William Rose from Indiana...Or the honest truth that Pearl Jam only has one album worth listening to. Or trying to guess the singers of different fading 80s hits. Is that Hewie Lewis or Steve Winwood? The best though is when we kid each other about our pet peeves. Why? because it makes us feel closer to each other when we can laugh and make light of our little foibles...it closes that gap that inevitably builds with little annoyances.  Admitting our weaknesses to each other is fun if done with love...and the right amount of fun. For example Art really likes to put all of our paperwork on the dashboard at the beginning of trips...I just think he likes the feel of flipping it all up there like a ranch hand's gloves at the end of a hot day.  But i know its all gonna fall down the first time I accelerate...yet...
But Art brought it up today, more aware of my peeve that I realized. We had a good laugh about it.
My point being sometimes talking about nothing at all is the best talk with your husband...just a chance to relax, and ramble and listen to music.
I am very glad to be home and in my own bed. Maggie did really well on the trip, slept alot. But that means she is still awake right now. I hope she gets tired soon.
Charlotte was asleep at 8. I really missed her and got a great hug goodnight. She is really starting to talk more and respond to questions. Its great to watch her progress.
Well Im pooped and am off to convince a one year old its time to sleep.
